Meet Catherine!

Catherine is a dedicated piano educator with a profound commitment to fostering musical talent in students of all ages. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, with a double concentration in Solo and Collaborative Piano from Canadian Mennonite University, as well as a Masters of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Ottawa, where she studied under David Jalbert, one of Canada’s most celebrated pianists.  

An Ontario Registered Music Teacher with over a decade of teaching experience, Catherine has successfully guided her students into high levels of musical appreciation and ability. She utilizes a variety of pedagogical methods, including the Royal Conservatory of Music and Faber Method, to cultivate essential skills in piano technique, improvisation, composition, and music theory. Under her instruction her students have often achieved top marks in their RCM exams. Catherine has also served as a teaching assistant at the University of Ottawa, contributing to opera productions, and courses in film music and practical skills. A passionate performer, she has participated in a variety of concerts, competitions, and recitals, showcasing a diverse repertoire while actively supporting community initiatives through music.

In addition to her skills as an educator and solo pianist, Catherine has built up a formidable repertoire as a collaborative pianist. She has accompanied several opera productions, and currently serves as the Band Director for Oh Canada Eh!, an Ottawa-based pop-focused musical theatre production. Along with chamber ensembles and various soloists she has performed at top national venues such as the National Arts Centre Fourth Stage and the Centennial Concert Hall (Winnipeg, MB).

 

Catherine believes in creating an inspiring and engaging learning environment where students develop both their technical abilities and a deep appreciation for music. She is committed to sharing the joy of piano with every student.
